Tomorrow, January 15th, Phil is speaking at a Happy Hour with all proceeds going to the Garces Foundation. There's also a run coming up that benefits the foundation. Phil will be leading the way there too!

Happy New Year!

January 2nd, 2015

Happy New Year! We want to thank all of our members for another awesome year. 2014 was pretty great so it's only fitting to start off 2015 on a good note...

Enrollment for the gym is open! That means we're taking new members!

Philly.com writes in an article about New Years Resolutions that gym memberships

take time, money, and motivation. Fortunately, it takes about 10 minutes to sign up at The Training Station. There's no commitment -- that means no contracts, simply pay as you go, with the same straightforward, incredibly affordable fee. The equipment is the best available. And Phil's around to help all members train.

For existing members, remember that reviews on Google+FacebookYelp, and other social media websites helps like-minded folk find our gym. Remember, membership is capped so no need to keep the secret -- brag without any ramifications! The gym will never get too crowded! So tell your friends!

Oh yeah, 2014. Some of our highlights included Phil's essay in The Philadelphia Inquirer (check out the online version here). And it wasn't about fitness! Another 2014 highlight was Phil's regular appearances on 6ABC (or see some highlights on our video page or our YouTube).

Also, a reminder for training -- a lot of people ask Phil about various pains -- he asks, "What's on your feet?" Phil is sort of an world-class pro when it comes to consumer footwear. Seriously, get shoes for the same price you'd pay at Footlocker next time you work out!

See you all this year!

Phil Authors an Essay for the Inquirer!

September 10th, 2014

Phil, what some might call a prominent member of the community, was asked to write an essay for the Phikladelphia Inquirer. Check out the online version here.

6ABC Features Phil, The Training Station, and Run Shoe Store

June 5th, 2014

Philly media tends to love Phil. Right now, though, WPVI Philadelphia is doting. And we dote back.

On March 22nd Phil became the official moderator for 6ABC Philadelphia's FYI Philly Spring Into Shape! Because, well, who better? Also, The Training Station is a picturesque and well equipped gym so -- where better?

During off-hours, ABC has been filming a segment or two. So don't be surprised if you're watching TV and think, "Hey, I know that treadmill!" You're not going crazy. You do know that treadmill.

I guess we're not the only ones who exploit Phil's wealth of knowledge that includes: fitness, physiology, nutrition, running, sneakers, injury prevention, injury recovery, personal training, olympic coaching, economics, civil rights, Philadelphia dining, and etc. -- but he can't play guitar. Can he?

General updates: Awesome. Great. Wonderful. Membership is perfect. If you've arrived here, to this site, and are interested, feel free to stop by.

Enrollment Changes Expected, Run to Re-Open

May 14th, 2014

The enrollment process for new members is going to change soon. It's a positive change! But... Hashtag: StayTuned. Hashtag: I'dEnrollNow.

I heard a rumor that Run Shoe Store is making a triumphant return. Can anyone verify that? Sure, we currently sell shoes, fit them beyond the scope of your average store, and take pride in it. So, how is this different? Anyone? Hmmm... www.runshoestore.com ?

Google+ Benefits; Limited Memberships

April 13th, 2014

Google Plus: Why the Push?

As you've noticed, we've been pretty insistent on use of our Google Plus (G+) page.  for a number of reasons. The primary use of G+ is communication. A majority of members use Gmail, which automatically makes them G+ members. For weather updates, or any other emergency, we'd like to get the word out immediately.

Sound a bit too altruistic? Kind of, maybe but...

We have a number of open memberships available. When this occurs, it's in everyone's best interest to fill those spots immediately to preserve our community. How does Google+ fit in? In a word: Visibility. Here's "more than a word" the explanation.

We're Fortunate

Like you, we often take The Training Station for granted. The gym is a top-notch facility. Our equipment is unrivaled and meticulously maintained. That's Phil's doing, who, by the way, is certified at the highest level to train athletes and advise them on health. This expertise is readily available to our community. Phil loves it when someone inquires about their health and asks for fitness suggestions. He even enjoys the process of fitting us to new sneakers! But it's also the little things. Phil is at the gym at 5 am daily. What's he do? Calibrates each treadmill, check on each machine's sanitization tools. The small stuff.

You know that gym membership sales stereotype? "Sign up now for 12 months and get...." etc.? We hate that too. So we do the opposite. We maintain excellent resources, keep prices standard, and provide a unique non-binding membership agreement. Affordable, convenient, friendly, knowledgeable, clean -- the list goes on. This fundamental ideology defines The Training Station. It creates a community conducive of optimal health, enjoyment, respect, and ease. It's the way a gym should be. It's just better.

We also celebrate a transparent business model. No smoke and mirrors here. It's a club. You're a member. There's a monthly fee. We assure you we're not in it to accumulate vast fiscal wealth -- Phil can often be found talking members out of training sessions if he doesn't think they need it. We want to continue with such sentiments. To do so we need to maintain a consistent membership to, well, like they say, pay the bills. That said, we're not looking to create havoc.

Use Google To Attract Members Like You

This is where Google Plus becomes vital. We want to be found when sought. Google controls our visibility.. With G+, the more "Followers" and "Reviews" the better the visibility on Google -- specifically for those like-minded folks in search of an alternative to, well, other local "health clubs."  -- specifically for those like-minded folks in search of an alternative to, well, other local "health clubs." That's why YOUR personal reviews are so valuable. We want members and we like the ones we have. Google is getting the personalization thing down. If you recommend a place, someone with similar interests will most likely see it in their search results first. A personal review will, through Google algorithms, attract people like you to The Training Station.

We have a good thing going. Let's keep it going.

(This WSJ Video discusses Google data collection advantages and disadvantages; or you can just Google it).

Limited Memberships Are Available

We avoid over-crowding by keeping our membership capacity low. Since 2014, we've had a ton of new members -- it's great! Plus, we still have availability for new members -- So, stop by, and see the place! And, like always...

No Commitment. Ever. Always Month-to-Month.

Life is life. So, when you sign up, there's no contract. No obligations. What if you plan on taking a few months off? Going away? Let us know. When you return, you're welcome back. No extra re-enrollment fees.

Price? We Charge What They Do.

Our prices are smack dab in the middle of the industry standard. This market price allows us to afford premium equipment, expert coaching and training, unrivaled cleanliness, and individual attention. When it comes to health and fitness, we vote for affordability.
